We've got Brimfield! Anyone else planning on going on Saturday? I'll be there with my friends Kelly and Matt, shopping for stained glass windows; sailing memorabilia; old knitting patterns; and whatever the heck it is Kelly decides to shop for this year. I can't wait to get there.
Not much knitting to report on. Work is insane (as usual). Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines. When I got back from NY/NJ I went through the stash, there's a bunch of Baby Ull that I hope to convert to cowls for Dulaan.
Sounds like MDS$W was a great time. My goal for the summer?? Knit through enough of my stash so I can spend money at Rhinebeck.
For my next project... I bought the supples for a Duct Tape bag on Sunday. I've got a plan, I hope it works. Pictures as soon as I have time to play.

Ahh, it's good to be home. As promised, I've got photos. There wasn't a whole lot of knitting going on (too many long hours at the office for that), but I did finish a Dulaan hat and scarf. The box is slowly filling up. When I got back to Boston tonight, I dug out more wool (I've used up all but one skein of the Lopi) for more projects. I know there many charity knitting options, but for some reason this one really speaks to me.
On the photo front, first we have my tired pup. After a week with her younger and VERY active doggie cousins, Java is exhausted. It usually takes her a week to recover from these trips. You'll be happy to know she is curled up on the couch.

Next up, the two completed Dulaan projects:

One hat and one scarf. Next on the needles one more Lopi hat and then a sweater out of some worsted weight yarn. There's still plenty of wool in the stash.
For those in the Boston area, due to the rain this weekend, Jamaica Plain's Wake Up the Earth Festival will now be held on Saturday, May 14th. My LYS will be there. If the weather holds out take the Orange Line to Stonybrook, listen to the music, check out the performers and exhibits, and enjoy a JP tradition. Community is a good thing.
Really. I am working on the shrug pattern.
P.S. Anyone else LOVE ABC's Extreme Home Makeover? It's the perfect close to a weekend.

Not very compelling. Funny, but not compelling.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. eBay listing
Does anyone have a pattern for a toast cozy? I'd like to make one that would match her blanket.

The Center of the Universe - and not in a good way
The world is revolving around me. Well. Not really revolving, more like spinning out of control. My business trip to NYC that was supposed to last two days has turned into five. Is it considered a fashion faux pas to wear the same pair of slacks to work every day? I hope not.
I've managed to capture some amusing photos during my week in Manhattan, but I can't find the cable for my digital camera. You will have to trust me that there has been knitting (although not much) mostly on Dulaan projects. Saturday is Shrug Day. I swear. Especially because it is supposed to be rainy down here.
In the "when worlds collide category", I bring you this, via The Manolo:

It's a button hole duct tape bag by Vanessa Jean. Did she get her inspiration from Ann and Kay? Hmmm, maybe I'll head to Home Depot on Shrugday morning and see what colors of tape they have. After all, I could use a durable, waterproof bag to carry a project in. I have a Jordana Paige knitting purse that I LOVE, but I hate to use it on those rainy New England days.
For my next project....I'm going to get those pictures up. Really. I am.

No time last night to do the math for the Farmyard Yarns shrug pattern. Rats. The Lopi scarf is progressing nicely. Should finish that on the train home tonight.
Reason number 1 - as to why I hate the commute to Manhattan from NJ - there is no wiggle room. If you miss a train, you are going to be really late. Thank goodness the 8:21 didn't arrive until 8:34.
(Twilight Zone music)Still hearing that pesky foghorn even though it is a beautiful sunny day here in mid-town. (/Twilight Zone music)

So, I'm sitting in an office in mid-town Manhattan and I'm hearing a fog horn? WTF?
I finished another Dulaan hat while watching the Mets game last night. On the needles? A Dulaan scarf using up the rest of the Lopi stash. This should be enough of a project for the crowded train commute between suburban NJ and Manhattan. I started swatching the Connecticut yarn and love how it is working up. Just have to do some math and come up with a pattern.
Have I mentioned that I hate math?

Question of the Day - I see and hear references to the President's Weekly Radio Address. I've never heard it. Have you?

tonighttonighttonight. I just hope workworkwork cooperates and I'm able to get to Circles in time to get a seat right in front. (Stephanie, I'm not shy about sitting in the front row.)
Another Dulaan hat completed last night and another one on the needles that I should finish tonight. Question is, what do I bring with me for my business trip next week? I'll be spending a couple of hours each day on the train, so it needs to be portable. Maybe one of the shrugs from Interweave using some yarn I picked up in New Haven a few weeks ago? Maybe a honeymoon cami or Clapotis or Cozy? I've got 5 hanks of Koigu in a lovely sage green that I need to do something with.
Right now? It's back to my next work project - ahh the joys of working for a law firm....
